The Devastation of the World was the attempt by several groups of powerful people to destroy the world of IIo. The multidimensional doomsday device created was altered at the last second and its destructive power was shunted into the Seal of the Seven Archmagi. The Seal absorbed the energy and at first it seemed as though the Seal that had stood for over ten thousand years might continue to stand, but it was not to be. The Sundering of the Seal marked the return of magick to IIo, as well as the return of thousands of subRealms where magickal creatures had been forced to live.
