After magick was sealed from IIo, humes developed technology to replace the magick they had lost. Dragons realized in their newly Lessened state that the humes were just enough of a threat to not be worth the trouble. While elves sometimes lived a millennium, humes rarely lived past a single century without magick, and so the dragons retreated from sight to wait out the humes. Little did they know that hume technology would progress to the point that they would be able to destroy the entire planet...
